Spotify Pays Tribute to Davido’s “Timeless” with Pop-Up Experience



Davido’s 4th studio album ‘Timeless’ was released on Friday, March, 31, 2023. The highly anticipated album features 17 tracks crafted to satisfy the fans’ hunger for new music

To celebrate the release of the album, Spotify held a Pop up party with art installations that chronicled Davido’s career and contextualised the new album while also giving fans the opportunity to express their love. With music policy decided by a bunch of talented DJs, the fans danced along to their favourite songs off Timeless.

While Davido was away in the US on promotion duties, he sent a video message to fans thanking them for their support and for the amazing reception that Timeless received upon its release.

The album marked the start of a new era for the long-time Afrobeats star, and the pop-up also featured a merch collaboration with Nigeria’s urban streetwear brand Severe Nature, which featured specially designed Timeless merchandise such as tees and hats.

The event was attended by the Nigerian music industry, including music executives.

Supported by a stellar team of producers, writers and guest features and two new signings to his label in singer Morravey and logos Olori; ‘Timeless’ is a celebration of new beginnings and the strength of community. In the accompanying Twitter post, Davido writes, “I sat & stared over the ocean not so long ago wondering if I would ever make it here again after all I have been through… but thanks to your love and support we made it!”

Fans and artists alike have welcomed the new release, with many praising Davido’s ability to find coherence within a record that features diverse collaborators.

Spotify launched the ‘Timeless Afro playlist’, a collection of David’s favourite African classics, curated by the artist himself, alongside a trailer of the album’s tracklist.

The streaming platform also promoted the album by displaying a billboard promoting it in New York’s Times Square, one of the world’s most iconic public spaces.

Spotify data reveals that one of Africa’s biggest exports is Davido. While he’s undoubtedly popular at home, Davido’s music is most popular in the United States, where he has the highest number of plays outside of Africa. Top 5 countries where Davido is streamed include the US, UK, Nigeria, CAN, and FRANCE.
