Barcelona transfer news and rumours today: Blaugrana preparing bid for Man City’s Joao Cancelo

Barcelona is preparing to make an offer for Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo once Ousmane Dembele finalizes his move to PSG. The La Liga giants have expressed significant interest in Cancelo, with previous links dating back to January, though financial constraints hindered their pursuit. Nonetheless, Dembele’s imminent departure for a reported €50m fee has changed the dynamics.

Cancelo appears receptive to a transfer, as he reportedly has no desire to stay at City, and the club shares similar sentiments. The full-back’s availability has attracted attention from various European suitors, although Manchester side are yet to receive any formal bids for the Portuguese international.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Paris Saint-Germain have triggered a private clause to sign Ousmane Dembele for €50m. The Frenchman had a €50m release clause until the end of July, which then increased to €100m from August 1st. However, Romano has reported that by sending a ‘formal letter’ to Barcelona, PSG have managed to activate a private clause of €50m.

This, reportedly, allows only the Parisians to sign the 26-year-old for the lower fee and the Italian journalist has revealed that the Ligue 1 giants are set to complete the deal soon. Dembele has already given the green light for the transfer and has even agreed to a five-year contract with PSG.

Barcelona is contemplating a move for Joao Felix in the event of Ousmane Dembele’s potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain this summer. While Dembele’s negotiations with PSG are ongoing, the La Liga giants are actively looking for potential replacements.

Sport has reported that the Camp Nou side has shown interest in Felix and are exploring the option of signing the Portuguese forward on loan with an option to buy. This comes as little surprise as Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, already offered the forward to Barcelona, which was ultimately rejected.

Furthermore, Felix himself expressed his strong desire to play for the club, making a surprising statement earlier this month, declaring it as his lifelong dream.
