Nigerian activist rapper and singer, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has shared the challenges he faced during his knee injury and subsequent surgery, describing it as “a very difficult time.”

Falz underwent knee surgery on May 2, 2023, at a medical facility in London, United Kingdom, after damaging his ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) while playing football.

Nigerian activist rapper and singer, Folarin Falana aka Falz, has explained his knee injury ordeal as “a very difficult time.”

During an appearance on Cool FM Nigeria’s program, The Big Friday Show, hosted by reality star Tacha, Falz explained that his ACL was completely torn, leading to his knee instability.

He said: “It was a very difficult time for me. I had ACL reconstruction surgery. Your ACL is like a ligament that holds your knee together. What actually happened is that the ligament tore completely. So, my knee kind of gave way.

“It was an actual football injury. I was just running, and it happened just like that. I don’t know how it happened because I’ve been playing football since I was a child, and everything was going smoothly. Maybe on that day, I didn’t stretch well.“But this kind of injury is not uncommon. It’s quite frequent among athletes. I’m glad I’m back on my feet now. I’m up and running again. It’s a one-time surgery. I’m currently undergoing rehab with physiotherapy. I’m working on rebuilding the muscle back to 100 percent.”
